For me, Edward Kennedy was one of the last of the old guard. Early in his career he suffered a number of personal missteps that kept him from shining in public memory as brightly as his brothers John and Robert. Be that as it may, Ted gave his all to public service and did a lot of good.
Teddy, you will be missed

Agreed. At any point, he could have given up, and been just the rich son of a famous family. Instead, he learned from his mistakes, and he persevered in spite of many personal tragedies. He was one of the best politicians our country has produced. He was a champion, in the original sense of the word, fighting for the powerless.
